Nintendo Wii - features

Nintendo WiiThe Nintendo Wii is one of the most revolutionary videogame consoles to approach the videogame market in quite some time. The ability of the system to have a completely unique, yet realistic controlling method is very innovative, and that is what has drawn many customers away from the Playstation 3, which has seen an overall decline in interest since the Nintendo Wii’s arrival in the marketplace. The Nintendo Wii is a very different kind of gaming system. It still has all of the necessary Nintendo graphics, along with all of the great Nintendo characters, but the designers behind the Nintendo Wii have decided to make strides in technology where other systems have opted for familiarity. The result is a great system in the Nintendo Wii, and though the new controlling system that the Wii entails has caused some damage to television sets, it is still one of the most talked about technological creations, even six months after its initial release.

Nintendo is one of the big three competitors when it comes to video game consoles, and though they used to be the biggest competitor in the business, they have seen some pretty stiff competition from Sony since the downfall of Sega’s consoles in the late nineties. Nintendo has continued to offer its trademark brand of bright colors and characters via the Nintendo Wii, though it is important to note that they have also expanded their gaming repertoire to include other sports related names that fit well with the controlling style of the Nintendo Wii.

Sony has been thought to be the leader in sports gaming since the advent of the original Playstation, but the Nintendo Wii’s ability to have controllers that placate to more real life situations has caused quite an interest by gamers more willing to become closer with the gaming experience. The interactive play that gamers can use on the Wii has become its trademark, mainly because it is something that has been relatively unseen in prior consoles. There have been many different types of controlling techniques, but the Nintendo Wii is specializing in the ultimate virtual reality experience, which is advertising to many different levels of gamers.

One of the best aspects that really drove the Nintendo Wii into a very receptive marketplace was the inexpensive price of the console. The Nintendo Wii arrived on the market when other units, precisely the Playstation 3, were averaging costs of six hundred dollars, which is an awful lot to shell out for entertainment. Nintendo went with a very simple strategy, as they have opted for many times, which put the consumer ahead of the need for rigid technological advances, which may or may not end up paying off for the company. Nintendo went for a more accessible unit instead, and the popularity of the Nintendo Wii has been growing exponentially. Nursing homes have even been including the Nintend Wii in daily workouts because of the systems ability to mimic real sports that residents can no longer play unless they compete via the Nintendo Wii.

The Nintendo Wii is very simple, so the technological downfalls are very few. The only thing that can be said about the Nintendo Wii when compared to other units is its inability to be compatible with many other entertainment products, but Nintendo has always walked to the beat of a different tune, so this is really no surprise for all of these Nintendo fans. The Nintendo Wii does have USB compatibility, so it is important to note that there are some advances in technology with the system, but the overall technology limitations are nothing special. Though there are not many data advances, it is important to note that the Nintendo Wii is a product based on its very conducive game play, which is said to be one of the most unique experiences in the gaming industry.

The controller for the Nintendo Wii is relatively simple, but a new aspect of gaming has emerged, giving the consumer the opportunity to game without the need of a cord attaching the controller to the console itself. This aspect of the Nintendo Wii has caused some problems though, especially for those who have let the controllers fly into their televisions, causing quite a few angry Nintendo customers at the beginning of the console’s launch. The problem was quickly averted however, when the company began installing better wrist straps for the controllers, which were initially breaking, causing the controllers to fly straight into the televisions. The unique capabilities of the Nintendo Wii controllers have been one of the biggest selling points of the system, which has been very popular around the world.

Nintendo has done a very good job of staying afloat in the videogame marketplace by producing a system that does not compete in the data races that is starting to hurt Microsoft and Sony. The Nintendo Wii is a very basic system that boasts the best possible way to play videogames, especially from a more realistic perspective. The color of the Nintendo Wii is another characteristic that has offered a cuter videogame option. Both Sony and Microsoft want to have the coolest gaming systems on the planet, giving their consoles dark colors, and sharp contours that give the products an overall sleek shape. Nintendo’s console is much different. It is like a puppy where the other products are vilified wolves. This console knows how to entertain, and uses a no frills approach, which has given Nintendo an edge that they have clamored over for many years.

It has been twenty years since Nintendo was at the height of their gaming prowess, but the Nintendo Wii may see a new turn in Nintendo’s strategy, which is to give the consumer a different brand of gaming entertainment. Nintendo realizes that technology will only take the videogame so far. Changes must be made to encourage the gamer into buying a product that really does its job as far as entertainment value is concerned. Once these things are done, it is then possible to capitalize on a market that in the palm of your hand, and that is what Nintendo has done with the Nintendo Wii.
